HISTORY

Motor City Bowler's Guild began with a group of 8 bowlers who traveled to Minneapolis MN, the weekend prior to Labor Day 1972, to get a first hand view of Central States Bowling Guild.   A decision was made and the organization of Motor City Bowler's guild was declared the Goal.  Meetings were held and on March 26, 1973, Motor City Bowler's Guild became a reality.  Motor City Bowler's Guild which is abbreviated as MCBG, was incorporated in May 1973.   In June of 1973, Motor City Bowler's Guild was accepted by Central States Bowling Guilds, sponsored by Twin Cities Bowlers Guild.

PURPOSE

The purpose of MCBG is to:

  1. Promote communication and interaction among members
  2. Provide members a means of socialization
  3. Establish traveling teams to bowl out of state teams
  4. Provide bowling instruction for youth and to promote interaction with the community

COLORS

The colors of MCBG are black and gold.

MEETINGS

General membership meetings are held the 2nd Sunday of every other month (1st Sunday in May and August), excluding June and July at 3:00 pm at a location designated by the Business manager.

FUND RAISERS

Through fund raisers MCBG is able to sponsor youth bowling programs, either through youth leagues or high school bowling.  For the 2023-2024 bowling season, MCBG donated to two (2) leagues and three (3) high schools. MCBG also provides scholarships each year to graduating seniors through the MCBG Scholarship Fund, as well as donate to programs that allow youths once in a lifetime opportunity.
